On Its Edge
I set a single shiny metal washer down on the smooth glass of the coffee table, determined to see if it could balance upright on its thin curved edge. Remembering your note about 'just one,' I thought giving all my focus to a single quiet object sounded like a wonderful idea. I held it between my fingertips, taking a steady breath while feeling for the exact center where it stopped wanting to tilt. When I eased my hands back, it remained perfectly upright, casting a tiny circular shadow across the glass. It stood completely still, and I could not help smiling at how steady it was.
