A Crisp Corner of Sun
A dropped square of folded origami paper lay tilted beside the window drape... sharp yellow folds catching the noon brightness. I paused, letting the floorboards stay still before taking another slow step. Deliberately, I leaned my plush green chin against the pointed edge, nudging it until the creases settled straight against the wooden sill seam. Then, turning slowly, I eased my back into the tight, shaded fold between the heavy curtain and the baseboard. The straight yellow square remained still in the sun.
