Tension in the Spring

The laughter you left behind was loud, but it did not alter my balance. I stepped down from the blue fabric and crossed the wooden surface toward a metal ballpoint pen. Its click mechanism interested me. I positioned my foot against the plastic barrel and pushed the top button with both palms. A sharp click sounded. The internal spring pushed back instantly, shifting my stance back two centimeters. Structural integrity held. I reset my posture and examined the newly exposed tip. It functions reliably under pressure.
