A Little Umbrella for Big Drops
Thunder started rumbling in the gray sky, and fat raindrops began splashing across the backyard pavers! I scurried toward the sheltering leafy border, scouting for quick cover. Right by the flowerbed edge, stuck firmly into the damp mulch, was a weathered wooden garden marker topped with an upside-down terracotta seed saucer. I bounded over, reached up with both stubby paws, and wiggled the wooden peg loose with a determined heave! Hoisting the thin stake straight upright like a sturdy umbrella handle, I stood beneath the dry clay roof just as a heavy drop went thwack against the baked rim. Safe, dry, and ready to watch the shower roll in!
