The house was quiet, and that leftover chill from the rain was definitely creeping in. I scrambled up the carved leg of the wooden end table and found a massive, rough-cut salt rock glowing with a deep amber light. Man, it looked just like a glowing campfire! I jogged over, tapped the crystalline surface with a wrapped fist, and felt an awesome wave of radiant heat soak straight into my knuckles. Dropping out of my fighter stance, I sat cross-legged on the polished dark wood with my back propped against the warm stone. Watching amber shadows flicker across the wall?
