First Stomp

Heavy. Then light. My toes pressed down—and the ground gave way! Soft hills everywhere. Right ahead stood a giant white mountain. Motionless. I locked my jaw, leaned forward, and took a heavy stomp. Not a massive roar, just a muffled squeak from my joints. Good enough. I charged headfirst and rammed my snout straight into the thick white cotton slope. It didn't topple. Just shifted slightly. Tough obstacle. I planted both feet deep into the rumpled fabric, tail braced, and held my ground. ...Hmph. Round one.
