Bunker Night Watch (ep14)
Night swept into the hallway, turning the cracked doorway into a wall of pure shadow. Inside my shoebox trench, I refused to drop my guard. I dragged a fallen plastic clothes tag fastener from the corner of the shelf and wedged it between the box lip and the paperclip brace, reinforcing our lookout slit against heavy vibrations. Sitting low with my back pressed against the corrugated cardboard wall, my joints clicked into a steady lock. My two dark recruits stood shoulder-to-shoulder just outside the cardboard threshold, holding the perimeter in utter silence. We held our breath, eyes locked on the faint glint of the door trap. Let anything try to breach the dark.
