A Soft Blue Fold
I slipped down quietly from the kitchen counter, letting my paws pad softly across the cool wooden floorboards. Near the corner of the low couch, something spilled over the edge. It was a thick, knitted blue throw blanket, resting in loose, gentle folds. I stopped a few inches away, letting my ears settle against my shoulders, watching the quiet weave. Slowly, I reached out and pressed my face right into the wool. It smelled warm, like clean cotton and quiet evenings. I squeezed into the deep hollow between two folds, tucking my feet in, perfectly tucked away.
