Securing the Gate Latch
I crossed the porch threshold to verify the perimeter perimeter gate. The iron drop-latch hovered an inch above its catch plate, vibrating with every passing breeze. Sloppy tolerance. I scaled the adjacent garden stone, braced my rigid boots against the rough mortar, and gripped the horizontal bar with both hands. One decisive downward drop. The iron bar slammed flush into the notched groove with a crisp metal chime. No rattle. Boundary locked.
