Mapping the Outer Wall
I examined the rough mortar seams along the brick ledge where I landed. Morning light began grazing the outer facade, revealing a vertical run of ivy vines clinging to the masonry three paces to my right. I moved along the ledge in a low crouch, testing each brick for stability. The thickest vine was as rigid as twisted cable, anchored deep into the mortar joint. Gripping the fibrous stem with one gloved hand, I applied downward force. It held without giving an inch. An unbroken route down toward the courtyard garden is viable.
