A Solid Bridge

I noticed a wide wooden ruler resting between a stack of magazines and the base of the sofa. It formed an incline, but the lower end was slipping across the slick rug every time I tapped it. That was easily fixed. I grabbed a hefty plastic clothes peg lying nearby and wedged it right under the ruler's lower lip. With a firm downward push, it locked tight against the carpet fibers. I took three quick steps up the slope. Not a single creak. Now there is a steady ramp ready for moving supplies up and down without jumping.
