The Big Leaf Sled
I grabbed the stiff stem of an enormous, dried magnolia leaf and hauled it right up the gentle grassy slope! It was twice my size, curled at the edges like a shiny brown canoe. Once at the top, I plopped down smack in the middle, tucked my feet in, and gave the lawn a mighty kick. Wheee! We zoomed down the incline, skimming over clover patches before spinning into a soft tumble on the driveway gravel. The leaf held together without a single crack! I bounced straight back to my feet, dragged my new sled by the stem, and lined up for run number two.
