A Gentle Tap
A tiny twitch started in my left ear. Everything was still, enclosed by smooth white bars. I waited, breathing in the quiet air. Slowly, I lifted one front paw and nudged forward. The cool metal of the cage door met my toe. It gave a soft, ringing tap that echoed inside. I am able to move.
