A Letter in Box Twelve
I followed the staircase down to the ground floor, keeping a firm grip on the strap of my packed box. The lobby opened up before me, bright and paved with cool grey terrazzo tiles. Along the far wall stood a tall bank of polished metal mailboxes. Beneath box number twelve, a folded paper flyer with bold blue lettering had slipped halfway out through the narrow slot. I walked over, set my gear down, and nudged the heavy brass key against the paper to steady it while I examined the clean geometric lines of the font.
