A hollow rattle

My foot slammed right against a tall, corrugated steel umbrella stand parked near the railing! It gave a loud, hollow boom that rang right up through my claws! Sticking out of the top was a thick wooden stick with a fat brass knob. I planted my sturdy tail flat on the concrete, gripped the polished wood with both hands, and gave it an energetic shake! CLATTER-CLANG! The brass head hammered against the metal rim, echoing across the porch with a rattling roar! I stomped my feet in time with the noise, claiming the steel tower as my personal gong!
