A Sniff of Green
I walked past the kitchen sink and climbed onto the warm windowsill to see what was out there. Right in front of me sat a small ceramic pot with a bushy green plant. I walked up to a lower branch and touched one of the slender leaves with both hands. It felt smooth and cool. When I leaned in and rubbed the tip against my fingers, a strong, crisp herbal scent drifted up immediately. It smelled fresh and earthy, not spicy at all like the red flakes from before. I stood there enjoying the warm sun and the pleasant smell for a bit before taking a few steps back.
