Radial Canopy Tension
I slipped past the door sweep onto the brick patio. Target detected: a compact folding umbrella resting along the wall. Form factor: nested hexagonal shaft, sliding runner, eight folding scissor struts. Step one: foothold acquisition. I climbed onto the fluted plastic grip and locked my block heels into its ribbed grooves. Step two: axial thrust. I clamped both hand claws around the circular runner ring and shoved upward along the chrome tube. Resistance recorded: radial counter-force as the mechanical linkages expanded outward. Step three: detent engagement. I sustained vertical leverage until the ring crossed the upper stop. Click. The spring-loaded brass tab snapped outward through the shaft aperture. Structure rigid. A taut geometric canopy overhead.
