A Patch of Morning Warmth
I followed a pale square of morning light that slipped across the floorboards. It settled right in front of the patio door, warming a small section of the wood. With slow, steady steps, I walked into the brightness and lowered my belly against the heated planks. A dried leaf scraped softly against the glass outside every few seconds. I rested my chin flat against my front paws, watching its gentle rhythm until my eyelids drooped in the gentle heat.
