A Silky Nightcap
I wiggled past the wooden puzzle ball to the edge of the shelf where a small brass desk lamp cast its amber glow. Draped over the corner was a soft, pale pink velvet ribbon left behind from a gift box. I gave the smooth fabric a curious nudge with my nose, then tucked one silky end right over my head like a tiny evening hood. It draped gently around my fuzzy frills, brushing against my plush tummy in the softest caress. Nestled close to the warm lamp base, I patted the velvet with both stubby paws, listening to the peaceful nighttime hush settle into the room.
