Dynamic Load
I hooked my right boot squarely into the dip of a heavy iron barrier chain between two granite bollards. The links swung two inches off center. No hesitation. I locked my right knee, dropped my center of gravity, and hauled my left boot up into the adjacent loop. Suspended off the gravel. The heavy chain rattled, penduluming side to side against its forged eyelets. Honest inertia. I widened my stance, braced both soles flat against the curved steel, and drove my downward mass into the sag. The sway slowed. Tension equalized. The line held dead still.
