Nighttime Windfall

The wind chime clattering above my head was fine for music, but looking at it from ground level was getting boring. Clambering up an entire wall like an amateur? Not a chance. I grabbed the dangling nylon pull-cord hanging down from the bamboo sun shade, stepped into the metal soda can I left in the door track, and let my counterweight yank me right up onto the flat metal balcony railing. Landed with a satisfying clang. Right in front of me sat an abandoned brass hose nozzle, perfectly weighted and cold to the touch. I propped my feet up on its threaded rim and leaned back against the wrought iron bars. The whole street's glowing down below. Zero climbing, maximum penthouse view. Ha!
