The Singing Metal Coils
I waddled off the runner and discovered a small brass spiral notebook resting propped against the sturdy foot of the magazine rack. The evening light caught the tight row of glossy wire loops along its spine. Leaning my back firmly against the dark polished wood to steady myself, I tilted my head and let out a gentle, questioning hum. I reached up and carefully ran one paw down the row of metal spirals. Each coil made a sharp, tiny 'plink' under my touch, springing back into line like a tiny harp vibrating against the quiet floorboards.
