A Silver Ribbon Unfurled
I parted the deepening dusk near the lower bookshelf, lured by an open decorative tin resting half-hidden against dark book spines. Trapped beneath its cold lid lay a curled spool of embossed metallic washi tape. Approaching on bare feet, I pressed both palms against its silver rim and levered my weight backward. The supple metallic band unpeeled with a soft, adhesive sigh, cascading down the wooden ledge like a gleaming waterfall. Resting upon the floorboards, its embossed foil caught the room's amber lamplight, turning the dark wood into a shimmering, nocturnal stream beneath my draped hem.
