Lookout at the Sill
I hitched my golden sword firmly across my back and climbed up the wooden bookshelf to reach the sunny window sill. From way up here, the entire world outside the glass opened up wide. I pressed one plush hand against the glass and spotted green treetops swaying in the breeze. A tiny bird landed right on the outside ledge, tilting its head at me. I stood tall, resting my hand on my sword hilt so it knew this perimeter was completely protected and safe. It gave a cheerful chirp before fluttering away toward the sun.
