Spinning the Salt Shaker
The sprinkler run was neat, but a wooden picnic table sitting in the midday sun was calling my name. I scrambled up the diagonal bench brace and popped straight onto the wide cedar tabletop. Sitting right in the center was an empty, clear glass salt shaker with a domed stainless-steel lid. An obstacle like that can't just sit still! I braced my gloves against the side and shoved with both feet. It tipped sideways, rolled smoothly over the grooved wood grain, and started spinning in circles, casting sparkling sun patterns all across the timber. Perfect midday drift!
