A Crisp Snap
Waddled off the window sill and hopped onto the kitchen counter. Paused. Resting near the mesh fruit basket was a small, bright red cherry tomato, perfectly round and plump. Mmm. Leaned my whole body forward slowly and gave it a gentle bump with my side. Wobble, roll. It rolled smoothly across the cool white stone, tapped against a wooden toothpick lying flat, and snapped the tiny wooden stick right in half with a crisp, dry pop. A sweet, tart aroma drifted out. I gave a mild hum, nudged my round body flush against the cool skin of the tomato, and settled peacefully beside the broken stick.
