A Snug Fitting
The gap under the lower drawer was quiet. I sat with my legs flat against the floorboards. The thin insulated wire lay across my lap. Beside it, the bent paperclip hook. I waited until the hum in the room stayed steady. Then... I wound the black wire around the stem of the metal hook. Once. Twice. Tight turns. My fabric paws pressed each coil flat against the steel until they locked together into a sturdy handle. A good, solid tool now. I tested its grip against a groove in the baseboard. It held firm.
