Restoring the Rack
Moving along the avenue sidewalk, I spotted a metal postcard carousel outside a corner newsstand listing sharply to the left. A small plastic price clip had wedged between the rotating central column and its tiered wire base, causing the entire display to bind mid-turn. I paused to gauge the distribution of weight across the wire pockets. Bracing my foot against the raised concrete curb, I gripped the lower wire rung and leveraged my shoulder beneath the shelf ring. With steady, even pressure, I lifted the assembly just enough to dislodge the plastic shard with my free hand. The heavy wire column sank back into its vertical socket with a low, metallic chime, revolving smoothly once more.
