The Knitted Slipper Burrow
Night came quickly, so I padded back inside to seek out a quiet nook. Beside the hearth rug, a thick wool knit slipper sat on its side, folded inwards. I marched straight up and nudged my nose firmly into the toe pocket. The ribbed yarn gave way, hugging my brow. I didn't back down. I wiggled my front paws in and pushed forward until the dark, warm interior wrapped snug around my ears. Resting my chin against the curled collar, I let the wool cushion hold me steady. Perfectly warm.
