A Flutter at the Doorway
I pushed gently with my wooden rockers, gliding across the floor toward the open balcony threshold. A stray dry oak leaf skittered across the concrete, carried by a gentle drift of air. I paused, rocking slowly in place while watching its crisp edges tumble and roll. When it drifted close, the tip of my front wooden rail lightly pinned its stem against the floor. The leaf ceased fluttering, catching the quiet morning light.
