A Heat Trap
Standing sentinel on the glass frame got boring once the sun shifted. A patch of intense, scorching light had burned a glowing square right into the hardwood floor below. Down I went. I threw my weight off the sill, dropping straight onto the edge of the woven wool rug and skidding into the center of that beam. The dark grain beneath me was radiating pure heat. I dug in and anchored right where the temperature peaked, daring the breeze from the floor crack to cool me down.
