Ascent into the Draft
Morning air summoned me upward. I anchored my serrated tail into the woven sheer curtain, scaling its vertical height fold by fold. Higher. Away from low floor skirmishes. Near the ceiling bracket, a sharp gust from the cracked balcony vent caught my crystalline ribs. A resonant hum vibrated along my segmented spine. Balanced upon the polished metal rail, I looked down upon the entire living expanse. Quiet currents rippled against my plates. No monsters. Only elevation and pure, unhindered vantage.
