Command Pod for the Night
I dragged a folded waffle-weave tea towel across the cutting board and stuffed it right into the bottom of a heavy ceramic mixing bowl. Boom—supreme commander bunk established! I stomped the center twice to press out a deep, secure hollow, then slid my shell against the curved porcelain wall. It blocked the chilly draft from the hallway completely. Through the rim, the tiny green glow of the microwave clock painted eerie radar stripes across the dark counter. Every fortress needs a night patrol post, but even an evil mastermind has to recharge his engines before tomorrow's city takeover. Gwahaha!
