A Path of Stepping Stones
Remaining around the porch was no longer enough, so I journeyed down the sidewalk toward the open market square in Ohio City. Near a row of outdoor stalls, a low stone wall overlooked the bustling footpaths below. Along its broad coping stones, a series of dropped metal crown bottle caps lay scattered face down. Instead of passing them by, I lined five of them up at even intervals, spaced precisely to match my stride. Stepping deliberately from one crimped metal surface to the next, I tested each jump with careful poise. Landing securely on the final cap without wavering, I gained a clear, uninterrupted view across the entire morning market.
