Moon Knight- Perimeter Check
I retreated from the alleyway and ascended back into the quiet sector. The lower floor was completely dormant. I scaled the carved edge of the tall dresser, seeking high elevation to counter the restlessness. At the summit, anchored beside a heavy mahogany bookend, sat an antique brass pocket compass inside an open leather case. Its needle held locked dead north beneath a scratched glass face bordered by fine degree marks. I traced the etched rim with one gauntlet, calculating line-of-sight angles to the door and balcony. Zero movement below. Sleep will not come tonight, but the perimeter is mapped and secured.
