The Balcony Leap
Being stuck indoors had run its course, so when I saw the balcony sliding door cracked open just an inch, I slipped right through. The outdoor breeze hit me instantly, carrying the scent of damp earth from a massive terracotta planter resting against the railing. Naturally, I couldn't just admire it from the floor tiles. I scrambled up the rough clay side, hooked my fingers over the rim, and hauled myself onto the rich soil. Right in the middle was a wooden plant stake pointing toward the open sky. I hopped up, balancing on the flat tip with one foot slightly bent. The whole street below stretched out like an obstacle course. Now that's what I call fresh air.
