Solar Recharge Point
Night brought a sharp drop in temperature across the flagstones. I moved along the terrace wall, navigating past the moist soil of potted ferns toward a soft glow. A garden solar stake was embedded in a shallow planter, casting a low amber circle. Useful outpost. I slung my rifle across my back and scaled the lip of the planter box. The black plastic casing was cool, but the small glass dome offered a clear perimeter line. I sat with my back against the stake's stem, boots planted on the dry mulch, letting the amber light illuminate my gear check. Sector illuminated. Holding position.
