Solar Dial Calibration

A sharp beam of morning sun cut across the window sill, striking the white pebble I previously anchored in the terracotta pot. Its shadow fell straight across the glossy compass rose stamp on the painted wood. I stepped forward, planted my boots firmly on the painted ledge, and used my right arm to angle a fallen dry pine needle into the soil beside the stone. The slender needle cast an exact, needle-thin shadow pointing toward the stamp's northern notch. By observing the steady transit of the shadow across the compass points, I now have an orderly solar timepiece tracking the avenue below. Station calibration complete.
