Kinetic Recoil

A cylindrical metal pen lay across the oak grain of the side table. Approaching with measured strides, I surveyed the tension housed within its rear plunger mechanism. I positioned my right boot squarely atop the chrome button, shifting center mass downward to test mechanical resistance. The internal spring compressed to maximum tolerance before engaging with a sharp, echoing snap. A shockwave of kinetic recoil surged upward through my chassis. I locked my knee actuators, absorbing the impact without yielding a millimeter of footing. The tungsten point deployed cleanly across the wood grain. System balance maintained.
