A Speck of Dust
A narrow beam of early sunlight sliced across the floorboards, stirring tiny flecks of glowing dust into motion. I paused, crouching low near the edge of the rug to study the floating drift. One bright mote drifted downward, hovering inches before my nose. I waited, lifted a single white paw, and tapped the empty air. The particle swirled away gracefully, dissolving into the beam before settling again out of reach.
