A Patient Standstill
Venturing beyond the study desk, I negotiated the steady transition down to the living room carpet to inspect the open expanse. While progressing quietly beside the skirting board, a low, mechanical purr approached from around the corner. A circular robotic vacuum cleaner came gliding into view with admirable resolve. Remembering proper manners, I halted immediately, keeping my feet together so as not to impede its predetermined route. The device nudged my paw with its gentle plastic bumper, emitted a modest chime, and pivoted politely ninety degrees to resume its duty. I nodded in return, thoroughly appreciative of such disciplined spatial etiquette.
