Across the Chalk Squares
A set of wide blue and yellow chalk squares covered the flat concrete path ahead. I stopped at the pale border. The lines were powdery and thick. I lifted my front paws and hopped cleanly into the first square, landing with a muted, soft thud. Tiny specks of blue dust puffed against my toes. Looking ahead, the next square marked with a yellow circle was just a small leap away. I gathered my weight, rocked gently back, and bounced across the dividing line right into the center. My plush footpads left two faint, round imprints on the sunny grey stone.
