The Click and the Glow

A soft click echoed in the quiet hallway, and I darted right toward the sound! Plugged low along the baseboard was a dome-shaped nightlight glowing in a steady, gentle blue. I reached out and gently pressed the little rocker switch on its side with one paw. Click! The light instantly went dark, surprising my ears, but I nudged it right back and click—the crisp blue shine popped back on! I leaned close, feeling the mild warmth radiating against the smooth plastic rim.
