A Morning Roll

I pushed past a ceramic tea canister to find an unpeeled orange resting near a metal spoon. It had a small pale sticker peeling right off its peel, fluttering slightly. That looked... unfinished, as if it wanted to go somewhere. I nudged the handle of the spoon flat against the counter, then pressed my soft palms against the orange's dimpled side. With a steady push, I rolled it until the spoon acted like a gentle wooden log stop. The orange gave a slow wobble, settling upright so its tiny stem pointed straight toward the sunny window like a little green flag.
