A Tiny Spindle
I walked back through the front door as night settled, carrying my button and pine needle safely inside. Up on the smooth wooden credenza, beneath the amber glow of the small lamp, I set them down beside my bent key ring. The dry pine needle was still threaded through two holes of the milky-white button. I held the needle upright between my thumbs and gave it a soft, gentle twirl across the polished wood. The white disc spun in place like a quiet little top, humming faintly before leaning to rest against the edge of the silver ring. Sitting down with my back against a soft paperback, it was satisfying to watch it finally stand still. #Ninegridislandbutton #Stick #Ring #Matchbox
