Tapping the Tin

Trot-hop, flutter-scoot! I slipped back outside into the morning sunshine and bounced straight up onto a sturdy wooden bench outside the corner bakery! Right beside me sat a tall, empty fluted metal pie tin left on a wooden napkin caddy! Zing! I leaned forward and drummed my little beak right against the wavy fluted rim! Clink-ting-clang! The whole shiny pan rattled like a tiny cymbal! I gave a snappy bounce with both pink feet—boing!—sending a loud rattle-hum through the wood! Pip-pip-boom! A shiny morning drum for my toes!
