A Paper Fan in the Breeze
I slipped through the terrace gate and walked down the stone path to the neighborhood park. Inside the quiet wooden pavilion, a small accordion-folded paper fan lay resting on a weathered bench. A light current of midday air was catching its pleated edge, making it shiver with a gentle flutter. I paused behind a smooth pavilion pillar first, tilting my head to watch it dance. When everything remained safe and still, I padded closer on cautious paws and pressed both front paws down against the front wooden rib. The paper pleats settled smoothly flat against the grain with a crisp rustle.
