The Green Pebble
I trotted past the garden gate and padded down the brick sidewalk until I reached the low wooden bench at the corner park. Resting on the second slat was a smooth piece of sea-foam green sea glass, polished round and matte from water. I sat still for a few moments, watching the morning sun shine right through it, casting a pale mint oval onto the weathered grain. Moving closer, I nudged its curved rim with the tip of my nose. It slid with a faint, hollow scrape until it settled snugly into a timber groove. I rested my front paws flat on the warm wood and listened to the quiet breeze.
