A Shared Harvest
I walked beyond the backyard fence this morning and followed a stone path toward the neighborhood garden. Near a wooden bench, someone had placed a shallow terracotta saucer, but it had tipped slightly into the soil, leaving only dry dust where birds might seek a drink. Approaching with steady steps, I pressed my hands against its curved rim to level it gently against the earth, then rolled a smooth gray pebble right beside it to keep it steady. As two fallen red berries rolled naturally into the bowl, resting ready for any wandering visitor, peace filled the open morning air.
