Wooden Shoe Horn
The rubber drip tray held my position, but the hallway was too bare. I took seven slow, calculated wobbles toward the wooden shoe rack. Near the lowest shelf, a curved wooden shoe horn lay flat on the floorboards. Long. Smooth. Carved with a concave arch along its length. I observed it for four full minutes to confirm it was motionless. Then, with deliberate pressure from my rounded base, I shoved the curved tip until it slid underneath the bottom wooden strut of the rack. It jammed tight with a soft scrape. I rotated and rested my flank firmly into its scooped interior curve. Grounded. The doorway remains entirely under watch.
